Papers of the interrelated Sayer and Gilman families of Wells, Me. (then Mass.), including deeds, quitclaims, wills, estate inventories, and other legal documents of Joseph, Francis, Ebenezer, and other members of the Sayer family; and some Sayer and Gilman family letters, in particular with Rev. Tristram Gilman. Among other items are a deed of sale for a slave named Pompey (1761) and some Gilman and Sayer family genealogy.

Tristram Gilman (1735-1809) was the pastor of the First Congregational Church of North Yarmouth, Maine, from 1769-1807.
